Ahoy Matey!

I can't believe it has been a week since I last posted! But I do have a good excuse....wedding stuff {cake tasting :), bridesmaid's dresses}
But....
To be completely honest, most of my week has been spent drifting Out To Sea....

well....
drifting in a sea of cuteness, that is!
Sarah Jane Studio's new fabric line...Out To Sea has just landed on our shores....or should I say store....

To help introduce it to our customers, I made a baby quilt using Amy Smart's free download.....

This is a fabulous line {sorry for the photos...it is a bit cloudy today}

the line includes a couple of large panel prints....ships and a map panel. And lots of great coordinating prints...including Pirates!!!!

I made a couple of minor changes to the free pattern....
instead of white at the top and bottom, I used this watery chevron print....

and,of course, I had to add a bit of pick stitching...

it is bound in this fantastic bold red stripe...gotta love a good stripe!

and the back is a fun pirate print!

It is a great line...that Sarah Jane...such a talented girl!
Have a wonderful weekend...

Chicopee

Our shoppe recently received several bolts of Denyse Schmidt's new line Chicopee!

Chicopee fat quarter bundle

Very vintage and totally Denyse Schmidt...I really love it.
this line lends itself to traditional blocks
so I played with a great little traditional block...

the name is a bit creepy...but I love the simplicity of this block...
The Coffin Star

happy thursday!

Whirligig!

An error of omission....
the very lovely wedding quilt I am working on is indeed Sarah Fielke's Whirligig from her latest book, Quilting: from little things....

I began this process in July...
it has truly been a delight to work on!  I enjoy applique and often forget how much I do love applying those tiny stitches and building something gorgeous layer by layer.
The stillness and quiet of hand work allows my mind to work out issues and most of all, lately, think of my mom.  It has just been 5 months {yesterday}.... my sister and I miss her so very much....
but I am glad to have something peaceful to keep my hands busy...
I am so sorry I did not tag Sarah and the book in my post yesterday, but there will be some big fanfare when this one is complete!

It is intended for a sweet couple who are so excited about a wedding and a celebration!
More to come!
hugs

Ironing out the Details....

I have finished the top of the wedding quilt....

it is pressed and waiting for a bit of basting and quilting...

I must tell you, I love this Bari J. fabric from Art Gallery!
It feels magnificent....

I am so excited to get started quilting this one!

Happy Camper

I've finished the Feather Bed Quilt...
pattern and fabric by the very talented Anna Maria Horner!
The quilt was a pleasure to piece!
And that's a good thing!

This is the baby size...measuring about 36 X 50 inches.

almost all the fabrics are Anna Maria's Field Study line...
And the background fabric is Essex linen in Natural...

For the binding I pieced the left over scraps from the feathers

and it is backed in a single cut from the Field Study line..
I love this fabric!

hand quilted with perle cotton....
washed and dried :)

It is a great quilt...give it a try!
While I was putting in the last stitches on the binding, my mailman dropped a package in my mail box...ohhhhh....exciting!

I participated in the Modern Quilted Pillow Swap and my secret swap arrived!
Wowza!
I am one lucky girl!  I received the fabulous Texty Hexie pillow from the magnificent Svetlana of S.O.T.A.K. Handmade.....
Here is a link to her blog post about the pillow...

I love it!
Look how pretty it is on my bed with my other pillows!

and then the icing on the cake was this little pincushion...
how sweet!

Thank you, thank you, Svetlana!  You made my day!
  happy camper!
have a good weekend!

Migration

The second round of the MQP Swap has just finished...all the voting complete and partners exchanged.  While I can't reveal any of the big details yet....
I can show my entry for the swap.

I call this pillow Migration...
flying geese...paper foundation pieced.
Hand quilted with black perle cotton.

And keeping with the aviary theme I have going on here...
the Feather Quilt...is being quilted...
